Falcons vs. Patriots highlights: Atlanta's comeback falls short in NFL Week 9
The Atlanta Falcons fell to 3-5 on the season after Sunday's 24-23 loss to the New England Patriots. Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. tossed three touchdown passes to Drake London, but the team missed an extra point attempt after what should have been the game-tying touchdown in the fourth quarter.
The New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons are duking it out in Week 9 from Gillette Stadium. New England enters this matchup as one of the hottest teams in the NFL at the moment, riding a five-game wining streak while getting MVP caliber play from second-year quarterback Drake Maye.
On the defensive side of the ball, Sam Roberts was the highest graded defender for either team, receiving an 89.7. Pass rusher Arnold Ebiketie (78.4), safety Xavier Watts (68.9), safety Jessie Bates (67.7) and nose tackle LaCale London (66.2) round out the top five for Atlanta’s defense.
As the Atlanta Falcons' freefall continues, head coach Raheem Morris was clear in his assessment of the team's third straight loss.
Raheem Morris said he didn't want to make Sunday's accusations against the Patriots a "snapgate," and noted the Falcons snapping the ball early wasn't New England's fault.
The only thing consistent about the Atlanta Falcons’ 2025 season is their inconsistency. They have beaten the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings, and taken division leaders Tampa Bay and New England to the wire.
