Bob Trumpy, an original Cincinnati Bengal who enjoyed a 30-year TV and radio career after playing for the team, has died. He was 80 years old.
The Cincinnati Bengals are mourning the loss of former tight end and broadcaster Bob Trumpy, who passed away peacefully at 80. Bengals president Mike Brown remembered him as “an exceptional and rare tight end” whose speed and deep-threat ability set him apart.
Trumpy earned All-AFL honors in his sophomore year, recording 835 yards and nine touchdowns on only 37 receptions. The 1970 AFL-NFL merger didn’t stop Trumpy from averaging 36 catches, 487 yards, and three touchdowns over his next five seasons.
