Firefighter text messages reveal crews were ordered to leave the origin site of the devastating Palisades Fire despite hot tree stumps, a new report said.

Carnes' body was discovered near Kirkpatrick Boulevard in northeast Houston after Union Pacific employees spotted what they believed was a brush fire and called 911 just after 10 p.m. on October 23. When firefighters extinguished the flames, they made the grim discovery of Carnes' body hanging from the underside of the freeway.

The attack was a targeted act of violence, "believed to be motivated by the assailant’s anti-religious beliefs against the Mormon religious community," the FBI said Friday.

Archaeologists in Troy, Ohio, uncovered an estimated 4,500 historic artifacts beneath the fire-damaged Overfield Tavern, including coins from 1817 and 1846.
