Amazon Games shares an update on the future of once incredibly popular MMORPG New World: Aeternum, and fans aren't happy about it.

Earlier this week, Amazon's games division confirmed that it is ending support for MMORPG New World on both PC and consoles.

Now, it appears as though New World fans actually did have something to fear, as it has been announced via the game's official Twitter account that development on the game will cease following the release of Season 10 and the Nighthaven update, which have both been described as "the final content release forNew World on PC and consoles".

While it may have come as a complete shock that Amazon is ending updates for their MMO, New World: Aeternum, developers have left something in the title for fans to discover while the game remains up.

Amazon Games has confirmed that New World will no longer receive new content updates. The decision marks a turning point for the company's biggest gaming project, and perhaps a reckoning for its live-service ambitions.

Fantasy MMO New World got the death knell from Amazon this week, as the company announced season 10 would round out updates to the game amid wider layoffs affecting some 14,000 jobs.
